Last Saturday, Palm Beach Royals player Grayson Goldin won his first-ever MLP DreamBreaker, capping off one of the most inspiring comeback stories in professional pickleball.

In February, the 30-year-old South Florida native was hospitalized after suddenly losing his speech just one day after training for the Carvana Mesa Cup. Following extensive testing and numerous medical procedures, Goldin was diagnosed with Reversible Cerebral Vasoconstriction Syndrome (RCVS), a rare neurovascular condition whose symptoms can closely resemble a stroke.

For many athletes, such a diagnosis would create uncertainty about whether they would ever return to competition. But throughout the entire process, the Palm Beach Royals never wavered in their belief that Grayson would be back.

As the franchise's hometown player and one of the most respected competitors in the sport, Goldin remained a valued part of the Royals organization throughout his recovery. Ownership, coaches, and team leadership stayed closely involved, supporting him every step of the way as he worked tirelessly to regain his strength and prepare for the season. The organization continued to invest in his development, train alongside him, and provide the resources and encouragement needed to help him make a successful return.

While the pickleball community rallied around Goldin and helped raise more than $38,000 toward his medical expenses, the Royals remained committed to ensuring he had a place on the roster when he was ready.

That belief was rewarded last Saturday against the Las Vegas Night Owls.

With the match tied and heading to a DreamBreaker, the Royals entrusted Goldin with the opening spot in the lineup. He delivered in spectacular fashion, winning his segment 7-5 and helping propel Palm Beach to a 21-15 DreamBreaker victory. Fittingly, Goldin also struck the match-winning shot, securing a 3-2 Royals victory.

For the Royals, the moment was about much more than a win in the standings. It was the culmination of months of perseverance, recovery, and unwavering belief in one of their own.
